I am a 23-year resident of Campton Township, married, with six grown sons — four of whom are raising their families locally. The gifts of community were an important part of our family’s journey.
I have more than 30 years executive level experience that includes serving as the executive director for Neighborhood Food Pantries, a network of six food pantries providing food at no cost for 65,000 pantry visitors annually from DuPage, Kane, and Cook counties.
Previously, I served as the Chief Development Officer and President of the Delnor Foundation, and led the initial planning and launch of LivingWell Cancer Center, a valued commmunity resource for more than 20 years.
I have volunteered with many community organizations including Hesed House, Fox Valley Festival Chorus and Kane County Master Gardeners.
I attend county board meetings to understand the issues that impact my neighbors and the sources of disruption and conflict on the board. A board that is mired in conflict and partisanship cannot fairly represent the diverse communities that call Kane County home.
I commit to balancing the interests of all with responsiveness, collaboration and determination to deliver the best quality services efficiently and professionally.
Kane County is the fifth largest county in Illinois. Managing all the affairs of the county government is a large, complex task, comparable to a hospital or university where I gained most of my professional experience. I believe debating issues is healthy in civil society and so is fact-based, transparent communication of needs and priorities.
As a board member, I would advocate for a professional administrator in Kane County, a step all other counties our size have already taken to enhance effectiveness, accountability and transparency. I assert that an administrator could introduce process improvements that would lead to cost savings, mitigate conflicts and provide stability to manage the disruptions that come with every election cycle.
